During an argument, our client was said to have thrown household objects at his live-in partner. As the case progressed, the State lacked the evidence and witness testimony necessary to prove the allegations beyond a reasonable doubt.
After we challenged the sufficiency of the State’s evidence, all domestic violence charges were dismissed before trial on June 15, 2026.
“The burden of proof always rests with the State. When prosecutors choose to file criminal charges, they must be prepared to prove those allegations with reliable evidence. We are proud to have held the State to that standard and secured a dismissal for our client.” — Emily Smith
